Garner State Park

The most visited park in Texas, this beloved park on the Frio River has swimming, hiking, and great views. Rent tubes, paddle boats, SUP, and kayaks. Nightly jukebox dances in summer from 8:30-11 p.m. that locals and area guests love. In the summer, they also have a restaurant, putt-putt, candy shop, and snow cone stand. Buckhorn Grill

Rustic saloon-style bar, dance floor, and restaurant. Grab a burger, pizza, or beer in a laid-back atmosphere. Live music on weekends. Kids of all ages will enjoy their playground, putt-putt, basketball court, volleyball, XBox & PlayStation, cornhole, pool tables, air hockey, swing set, ping pong, & a dance floor. Open Thurs-Sun. Hidden Gem:

Sabinal River Winery

Wine enthusiasts will love the award winning wines at this beautiful winery in a picturesque canyon alongside the Sabinal River. They have a food truck, live music, and are about to open an on-site brewery/bar. Free walk-up samples Wednesday through Sunday, or call 830-966-5131 to set up a private tasting. Located near Lost Maples State Park in Vanderpool.

 

 

 

Best Place to Golf:

Frio Valley Ranch Golf Course

Great course with spectacular views. The greens are in excellent condition and fast. The course itself is a good hill country track for any golfer. Best Live Music:

House Pasture Cattle Company

Texas music at it’s finest. House Pasture has concerts every weekend in the summer with some of the biggest names in Americana, Outlaw, and Texas Country. Previous artists include Willie Nelson, Pat Green, Kevin Fowler, Stoney Larue, Jack Ingram, and Spazmatics. Best Spot to Hang with Locals:

Friday Nights at the Back Porch Bar at Leakey Inn

Stop by the Back Porch on Friday nights for live music, cold drinks, and good conversation. Locals and area visitors alike enjoy coming together in a friendly atmosphere to listen to local Texas bands. There’s nothing quite like small-town Texas hospitality.
